Title:
Quercus Psalter
Creator:
Robinson, Sue Ann
Description:
Accordion folded, offset printed on both sides. Includes one tipped on illustration. Accordion inserted into folded paper wrappers with unattached endsheets. When unfolded, the trees on the opposite side of the page forms a grove. The front wrapper is embossed with leaves. Much of the text in Quercus Psalter is derived from the participatory installations of Quercus Scribe. Installations included live oak trees, audio tape of oak lore and visitor participation. Images and compositions were inspired by the largest stand of endangered Engelmann oaks in California. Design of the book reflects inspiration from medieval manuscripts like the Book of Kells and Hebrew lunar calendars. Published in an edition of 125, signed and numbered. This is part of the artists' book series published by the Library Fellows of the National Museum of Women in the Arts to benefit the museum's Library and Research Center. Begun in 1989, the series is made possible by the creativity of artists and the enthusiasm of book lovers and collectors.
