Title:
A Key to the Map
Creator:
Torgerson, Eugenie
Description:
A unique book in an accordion fold structure. On one side, it opens to pages of text (short poems) and on the other side, to a series of images. It is closed with a silk band with a button and cord closing. The book is housed in a footed drop spine box that is 6 inches by 7 inches by 3.75 inches tall. Both book and box are covered in decorated papers and cloth. Artist's statement from website: "I build book and box forms with traditional bookbinding materials and methods. These sculptural objects contain my own pastel drawings and imagery generated from my own photographs. The stories they tell are contained in my words and the poetry of Kevin McCue. My subjects are the allure of the horizon, the power of the land, the experience of loss, and the sweetness of redemption."
