Title:
Antony and Cleopatra
Creator:
Welch, Linda Marie
Description:
Unique artists' book. Slipcase signed by the artist. Materials: original collage, screen printing, hot wax, cord. From 23 Sandy Gallery website: "The pages of this play are taken from an old book; Shakespeares Works, Volume II. The publisher page long since missing. This volume held 11 plays. I made a suite of eight Concealed Within Objects with this volume. Concealed Within books are an ongoing series of unique, un-openable book objects. Original book pages are folded, then bound with cord, collaged with mixed media, papers, painting, and screen printing. This bundle is then sealed with hot wax. Each book is housed in a matching slipcase. This series speaks to the appreciation of the tangible qualities of a book, but also to the implication of the inability to access the content."
