Title:
"For Love and Spring Make a Goose of Everyone." - Old Ballad
Creator:
Lowell, Orson, 1871-1956
Description:
Half page cartoon. The mascot of Life Magazine was the cherub and he appears in every issue in the small illustrations throughout. He was also used by many of the regular cartoonists and cover artists. Most issues of Life had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. Though this 1903 issue was not formally themed, quite a bit of its content was on Spring. Orson Bryan Lowell was the son of landscape painter Milton Lowell. His humorous cartoons captured the social climate of the day, and he had a long association with Life Magazine.
