Abstract:
“This thesis examines the relationship between graphic design and visual homogenization. In a world increasingly interconnected by digital technology, the homogenization of visual and global culture will continue to intensify, erasing the richness and complexity of multiple perspectives, stories, and experiences. As designers, we must examine our role in this process. This thesis explores the part designers have played in allowing the erasure of contextual meaning in favor of a more universal visual language, as well as the value of our individual human stories.” –Abstract
