Abstract:
“The aesthetic preferences of the Eastern and Western illustration markets stem from differences in their respective histories and cultures and these differences make it difficult for some Chinese artists to enter the Western market. What causes these differences? Is it a technical issue or a difference in core ideological system between the two? The conservative and reserved characteristics of the East are in sharp contrast to the enthusiasm and unrestrainedness of the West, which are fully reflected in the artistic works of both sides. Exploring how to blend these two cultures and innovate is something I plan to explore in depth. To explore and support such differences, my thesis will break down the differences in illustration markets between the two in conjunction with a series of advertising illustrations that work to combine and express both Western and Eastern artistic trends.” –Abstract
