Abstract:
“This essay delves into fashion shows and their production design, examining its historical growth, theoretical foundation, and practical execution. Focusing on Dior's Spring-Summer 2020 collection, ‘Women Rule the World,’ the study of Dior and its intersection with timeless themes inspired by Shakespeare's ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ reveals an engaging captivating narrative in which the sublime beauty of nature intertwines with the complexities of human emotion. By exploring the visual narrative and design process, specifically the role of a production designer in crafting distinct sets, this research reveals the thorough storytelling, empowerment, and artistic expression that exist within the realm of production. Through this lens, the thesis aims to illuminate the relationship between fashion, history, and production design by examining the multifaceted factors that influence the visual design of a fashion show.” –Abstract
