Abstract:
"In recent years, the children's picture book market in China has flourished, securing a crucial position within the children's literature sector. Particularly in the twenty-first century, informed by prior research on picture books from other countries, and paralleled by rising educational and economic levels among parents, a natural trend of growth has led to the emergence of a cohort of outstanding creators. Consequently, China's picture book industry has seen a gradual ascent. Nevertheless, the market's prosperity has been predominantly driven by imported picture books. Despite a wealth of excellent domestic works and creative talent, the predominance of imported picture books remains unchallenged. However, it is indisputable that China's indigenous picture books have been making steady progress through active exploration. This paper examines the current landscape of China's domestic picture book industry, identifies the challenges to its growth, and investigates possible strategies for its advancement. Additionally, it proposes strategic recommendations to aid in the sector’s future development and enhancement." --Abstract
