Abstract:
“This thesis explores the overall topic of Soviet montage theory from a narrative perspective, specifically how parallel montage is visually presented within the shot, shot-to-shot, and sequence-to-sequence to serve the storytelling. By analyzing three directors’ different visual approaches to achieving parallel montage in their animated films, this thesis intends to synthesize the characteristics of parallel montage’s visual application in animation, and its influence on this graduate thesis film.” –Abstract
