Abstract:
“The visual component My Grandmother represents an innovative way to create a combination of two-dimensional and three-dimensional techniques to display illustrations, especially in picture books. Using stone clay to create three-dimensional figures, and then adding flat illustration through digital media such as Photoshop, makes picture books more readable and interesting. At the same time, the three-dimensional clay objects can highlight the main character and show the content of the picture book in an interesting form. Although the final product is printed, the three-dimensional clay illustrations still show a three-dimensional effect and a two-and-a-half-dimensional feeling on the printed page. My Grandmother focuses on the theme of childhood in the form of picture books, showcasing a little girl and her grandmother's time together. Three-dimensional stone clay will be used in the characters and their related objects, and the details and surrounding story content will be added in two-dimensional illustration through Photoshop, which enriches the content of the entire illustration picture book and offers an innovative way of displaying the illustration picture book. At the same time, the artwork generated for this project has applications in other markets, including posters and toys.” –Abstract
