Abstract:
"This thesis will analyze Hiromu Arakawa's depiction and application of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in her manga Fullmetal Alchemist. Arakawa's diverse cast of characters and post-war environment are enhanced by these accurate depictions, grounding her story in reality and making her fictional world more believable. These applications will be examined through the lens of three key characters who are identified as presenting with different variations of the disorder: Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), collective trauma, and the guilt-shame trauma paradigm." --Abstract
