Abstract:
"This paper aims to appeal to graphic designers to ameliorate the growing discrimination against Asian Americans by creating a new experience that evokes stereotypes and bias against other cultures through the connotation of graphic design. Covid-19 increased prejudice and hatred against Asians, especially the Chinese, in American society, making Asians the victims of attacks based on race and gender. The problem is made worse by the Asian community's lack of recognition of the problem and continued tolerance. Graphic design has the ability to convey information and promote communication, which makes it a bridge between different groups and society. Therefore, by reviewing the history of Asian Americans and analyzing the treatment and discrimination of Asian Americans in the United States under different historical stages, this thesis seeks common points where Asians are prone to discrimination. Furthermore, by analyzing the promotion and influence of graphic design on society at significant historical points, this thesis demonstrates that graphic design can be an essential weapon for the Asian community to resist discrimination. Through the power of graphic design, we aim to contribute to the healthy development of multiculturalism in the United States and seek a safe and equitable environment for Asian-Americans." --Abstract
