Abstract:
"In the Korean music industry, K-pop has blossomed over the last decades. Due to Korea's colonized background, the K-pop industry has absorbed the foreign culture and then incorporated it into their own culture. The mixture of multiculturalism let K-pop break the Western country's barriers and become a new world trend. The K-pop industry has followed Western countries' way to develop their own style of music videos since the mid-1990s. As E. Ann Kaplan's classification of music videos, K-pop music videos transform from classic to postmodernist type, including loose narrative elements and more pastiche that references literature, paintings, or other artworks in the video. The K-pop music videos' contents of space, editing, and color, are the three most crucial elements that make the videos unique. K-pop music videos also intercut narratives to construct each music video's imaginary world. They use various saturated colors and different styles of choreography to convey the atmosphere of the song and the videos to leave an impression on their audiences. That combination has become K-pop music video's standard structure. The strong and unique visual performance is a new music video genre that impresses worldwide audiences." --Abstract
