Abstract:
The purpose of Memory Lane is to build upon the methods of reminiscent therapy by placing an individual with dementia in an immersive space that stimulates their retained memories and skills. There is strong indication in relevant literature that this exposure would be an effective form of non-pharmacological treatment assisted by design. By leveraging the storytelling skills and methodology of the themed entertainment industry this thesis proposes creating nostalgic themed spaces as part of an adult day service.
