Abstract:
"Over the years, the human race and natural catastrophes such as hurricanes have negatively impacted the beautiful wildlife in Puerto Rico, putting their preservation at risk. Today, 27 species of animals are identified as endangered according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Among the list are the West Indian manatee, the hawksbill sea turtle, and the Puerto Rican parrot. Because these animals require special attention, local conservation centers aid in the preservation of the species and give them a chance to thrive in the wild. The design of Maina Cu' (my-nah COO)"A Sacred Land Reserve" responds to the existing conservation efforts as a new concept of wildlife preservation center on the island. It will combine education and entertainment in a natural themed environment to bring awareness and rehabilitate some of the most endangered animal species that inhabit Puerto Rico to ensure their existence in the future." --Abstract
