Abstract:
"The world we live in has become saturated by technological devices, media and
transportation. Everything has become accessible at our fingertips, due to this we’ve become
overstimulated. My work deals with how we perceive space on a flat surface by arranging
colors and shadows to create these illusions of space. Plato’s Allegory of the Cave has become
the basis of my studio practice. We have become the chained prisoners and the shadows act as
the illusions that we are fed through technological devices. The work ranges from non-figural to
narratives that speak on the ridiculousness of technological media and how it’s become an
everyday norm. The work reflects how numb we’ve become and how gullible we are when it
comes to visual perception. I combine my love for nostalgia and obsession of technical painting
practices, creating paintings that talk about object quality, movement, and visual volume."
