Abstract:
"There is currently an inadequate amount of orthopedic footwear options available for female veterans in Veteran Affairs hospitals and clinics nationwide. With only 4 orthopedic footwear options offered to women in comparison to approximately 22
different orthopedic footwear options for males, this is an issue that requires addressing. Both male and female veterans are entitled to receive equal resources. This thesis explores the opportunity to create a product with design aesthetic and
functionality that is currently lacking in the marketplace. Due to the number of women
joining the military rising, the number of women who served is increasing as well. Addressing this issue can potentially ameliorate medical accommodations for female veterans in Veteran Affairs hospitals throughout the nation."
