Abstract:
"The traditional craft techniques used by models and miniature effects studios have succeeded in producing realistic, believable and dramatic explosion and destruction scenes in film. With developments in Computer Graphics, advanced 3D software allows digital artist to do the simulations based on real world phenomena, which is also a popular way to achieve fantastic visual effects.
This article will discuss the difference between a miniature effect shot in the movie Inception and the CG version of this shot. By comparing digital simulations with the traditional miniature effects, digital artists would have a better understanding of the advantages and limitation of CG simulations. Additionally, the techniques used by miniature artists can also inspire digital artists to create more complex and more dramatic visual effects."
