Abstract:
"This thesis will describe the phenomenon of willing suspension of disbelief as it pertains to sequential art and suggest methods on how to maintain it. Sequential art by nature allows for stories to exist outside the rules and limitations of real life – anything that can be drawn can happen. This freedom is one of the advantages of the medium and why it is ideal for fantastical surreal stories of all kinds. It is important creators know how to not take this freedom too far and risk alienating their audience."
Abstract:
*Includes the author's original animated short film "Blades of Furry," in which birds and other animals -- one of which might be a vampire -- vie for top honors in an ice-skating competition. Silent; subtitled.
