Abstract:
"As an historical and conventional visual art form, illustration plays a significant role in
communication media and cultural transmission in this 'customized world.' During its long-term
development, people have used illustration as a visual language to collaborate with other
professional fields. In the recent past, the technological methods supported the execution of
artwork which allows the still image to include movement. This improvement allowed animated illustration to exist in multiple video art fields, such as animation and motion media design. This
thesis will explore illustration-based motion pieces in the current customization society, focusing
on how hand-drawn elements and craftsmanship contribute to market demands and the influence
they have on both the illustration and motion industries. Furthermore, the thesis will provide case studies which use hand-drawn motion pieces for clients and focus on analyzing the results via
interpreting the success of these works of art. For the visual component, the author will create
multiple hand-drawn motion pieces for different applications."
