Abstract:
"With the development of globalization, the proportion of international students in U.S. higher
education has seen sustainable growth. However, researchers have not devoted enough study to
this and the problem of homesickness that many of them face in the beginning of the few years
have not been given enough. This thesis aims to research the relationship between a student need
for a sense of belongings and social support within physical environment and that of on-campus
third places to help reduce first year international students’ homesickness."
