Abstract:
"In creating large scale water body effects in Houdini, there has been a mature pipeline of built-in shelf tools to answer for various scenarios, from large scale boat wakes to small container water splashes. Through the combination of Houdini Ocean Wave Tool and the FLIP Solver, Houdini has been a very powerful tool in solving water effects in Visual Effects production. However, currently a giant ocean wave is still too heavy to achieve through FLIP simulation, and Houdini Ocean Toolkit can’t create a giant wave shape through the Ocean Spectrum Noises. Creation of the Giant Wave Tool will solve the issue of generating realistic looking giant ocean wave by Geometry Deformation. It also provides an adaptive subdivision procedure that can greatly optimize the Ocean Wave geometry based on camera, offering a method to create a giant ocean wave with ease."
