Abstract:
"This thesis explores how I directed Suzan-Lori Parks’ 'In the Blood' utilizing Brechtian and Greek theatrical elements to illuminate characters that society often ignores to an audience at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Elements used include the alienation effect, song and dance, gestus, and chorus. Throughout the process, I faced the challenges of producing my own work, booking a space, finding items needed for set and wardrobe, and maintaining a strong and happy ensemble."
