Abstract:
"Over time, the urban fabric of a city changes with economic and social
fluctuations. Just like the state of the economy, buildings of the city oscillate
in form, shape, and purpose. These changes in the urban fabric come at no
small cost. There are large financial, social, and urban implications whether
demolishing or constructing a building or adaptively reusing it to meet current
demands. By applying principles of industrialization in architectural construction,
it is possible to design a solution that anticipates the changes of a building,
minimizing the cost and time demands of the process of replacing or altering
the building to better suit changing circumstances. Therefore, the objective is to devise an architectural design that is
responsive to the fluctuations of the urban fabric and minimally expensive,
while providing an innovative lifestyle experience to its user."
