Abstract:
"In an era of reading pictures, the development of picture books has made a lot of changes in
daily life. It promotes the diversity of the visual language in picture books. Children’s picture
book is a relatively new concept and focuses on children graded reading division and refinement
of the traditional concept of picture idea. Furthermore, it combines children’s psychological
characteristics and social cognitive abilities, for the children’s reading characters, symbols and
visual language to express the picture books. Images in the picture books are intuitive, simple,
perceived directly and understandable, and that’s why they are also suitable for children. This
paper will attempt to analyze the visual language, such as compositions and colors, to interpret
the functions of visual elements to make a successful picture book for children."
