Abstract:
"This thesis addresses the continuously rising rate of the Chinese Post-1990s (born between 1990 and 2000) among the international undergraduate students in United States universities and colleges and some obstacles that they face in culture, socialization and academics in the campus life. The thesis is dedicated to helping the student population overcome these challenges and to adapt to United States college life by finding potential design approaches that trigger worldwide engagement and encourage social interaction. The differences of culture, characteristics and needs of the Post-1990s play a crucial role in enhancing the university facility with customized design strategy for intercultural integration. Through qualitative research, including online questionnaires, case studies, and observations, the results of the thesis study may contribute to the creation of a new intercultural community within universities and colleges in the United States, and may create a guideline for future international young adults to become integrated into United States campus life."
