Abstract:
Natural daylight is the most important influence and factor in design. Optimal lighting creates a productive and efficient environment by not only illuminating a space, but also by relieving ailments such as eye strain and seasonal depression as well as provides more efficient task focus and progress. Presently, environments are in needs of becoming more responsive to the environment to become further sustainable and to aide in educational progress rates. The focus of this application is a Learning Center for adult education. The site is located in the
heart of Atlanta where users will have easy access to the Center by way of automobile, bus, or walking. The site is centrally located near unemployment agencies and employment help centers in order to be easily accessed from these locations. Through case studies and deep research on how a person perceives their environment through color, texture, and hierarchy, I have developed a system that utilizes the optimal qualities of a space
through daylight.
