Abstract:
Characters have played a significant role in traditional storytelling. In this context animation has been categorized as ‘cartoony’ or ‘character based’, however it still continues to remain as a form of expression that has been destined to be defined ultimately not by traditional conditions of character acting and performance but by the artist, context and condition of expression. This thesis will explore short films, which are void of character animation and not necessarily a consequence of linear or literal storytelling.
