Abstract:
The global economic paradigm is changing as traditional industrial economic mindset no
longer suffices as a singular view of reality. In the face of environmental stresses, a sustainable
post-industrial perspective offers an alternative approach for the future. This viewpoint is
reflected in shifting consumer values, driving retailers to adapt and encouraging sustainable
retailers to develop offerings that align with this evolving demand. In the wake of these
challenges, there is an opportunity for service design to support sustainable retailers during this
time of transition. By taking a comprehensive approach to research, strategy, and design, and
using a systems lens to filter findings and development, one solution emerges. This solution is a
Box of Know-How that communicates the Regenerative Marketplace of Well-being as an
alternative model for sustainable retailers. The Box allows retailers to dream, build, and nurture
the model with different tiers of Know-How that are accessible, prototypical, actionable, and
enabling for a holistic design solution.
