Abstract:
William
Shakespeare’s
Much
Ado
About
Nothing
presents
specific
directorial
and
dramaturgical
challenges
that
are
unlike
those
found
in
many
of
his
other
comedies
with
their
perfectly
symmetrical
dramatic
structures.
Could
a
successful
rearrangement
and
edit
of
the
text
minimize
these
challenges?
Further,
would
a
fresh
visual
production
aesthetic
more
effectively
engage
a
contemporary
audience?
This
thesis
will
explore
the
issues
inherent
in
answering
those
questions.
