Abstract:
After World War II, the American audience turned to sci-fi and horror films to escape
from the trauma of war. Low budget films such as The Thing from Another World (1951),
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) and Revenge of the Creature (1955), used typography to
catch the attention of their audience. The typeface has a performative function similar to an actor
in the film.
