Abstract:
This thesis discusses an approach to composing music for advertisements. It offers definitions
and discrepancies between some musical and advertising terms commonly used in the industry
vs. those used in academia. The primary focus of this document is to provide a brief but concise
resource to students with an interest in composing music for advertisement including informative
graphs, charts, and statistics in conjunction with analysis of both the author’s original material
submitted for the project portion of this thesis as well as the material of other composers in the
field.
