Abstract:
We as people are often influenced by our daily surroundings, the very essence of culture, people and ideas contributes to many of our emotional feelings we experience. In these experiential moments certain thoughts contribute to our emotional state. In these emotional states we are also experiencing this thing called life.I intend to discover an architecture that is going to create a dialogue between architecture and the people. The purpose behind this architecture is eventually to evoke emotional feeling based on its surroundings to support an event. This event can be anything that excites or relates the human being to architecture. A great quote mentioned by Charles Eames states, “Eventually everything connects – people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.” This is easily relate-able to my train of thought of this intent because I want this feeling to be something beneficial to life rather it be an encounter, happiness, facing rationality, coming to find some type of evidence or even an epiphany that could bring you to finding yourself and even maybe a touch of spirituality. In the end I want this architecture to be meaningful and exuding quality through many sorts of connections. Therefore I propose to create a community center that is publicly an open space that allows for an inviting environment. I also want this center to encompass a free flowing sculpture stating a statement and allowing the opportunity for these emotional and personal events to occur. The location is Bayfront park downtown Miami, Florida. In choosing this site, I feel that it allows for the likelihood of culture and experience from the variety of communities and persons located in the area. In addition to being located in an urban contextual environment, I also have the opportunity to explore with different connections with transportation aspects that can also enrich this idea. Architecture cannot fully be experienced without the people, so architecture, idea and people connect.
