Abstract:
Through analyzing the current status of architecture in both practice and
education a lack of concern for the relationship between the user and the built
environment becomes apparent. Architecture has evolved into a "form" driven
discipline in which history, context, and user-interaction are often neglected. This
thesis will investigate how the concept of phenomenology in architecture can
contribute to a better understanding of the built environment. In this notion, it is
pertinent to address the work-dwelling space of architecture students in such a
way that the experience of architecture becomes a source of knowledge and a
learning tool; embracing, then, a practice and education of an architecture of
quality, diversity, and experience.
