Abstract:
This thesis is a city museum exhibit experience that explores the artistic process and inspiration
of Theodor ‘Dr. Seuss’ Geisel, the man who revolutionized children’s literature in his hometown
of Springfield, MA. Much of his artistic roots were drawn from sights and sounds of this city
during the early part of the twentieth century and continued to have an influence in his work until
his death in 1991. In the design of this exhibit, I seek to capture the essence of Seussian
literature: a conversation with reality. Through digital modeling, rendering, and supporting
images, I have created dynamic exhibition environments infused with the whimsy and fun nature
of Dr. Seuss that has the ability to engage guests of all ages. The end product is a design
proposal with the Springfield Museums as the intended client.
