Abstract:
This thesis investigates the relationship between the interior and exterior environment in mass incarceration communities. Through integration of multiple program types using theories such as place attachment, territoriality, and defensible space, this thesis aims to increase residents’ feelings of communal pride and ownership in an effort to positively impact the cycle of crime.
