Abstract:
Community and recreational facilities have long assisted in providing local neighborhoods with social, physical and economical
influences. The involvement of these centers within the community often plays a significant role in the fabrication of that community’s
character. However, in some locations such as inner city areas, the conditions of the local neighborhoods can have a degrading effect on
the facility and therefore it becomes counterintuitive to its original intent. A multi-purpose facility with affordable programs will provide
economic growth, an increase of cultural diversity and provide an opportunity for Baltimore’s developing generations.

Abstract:
I will investigate the benefits of athletic and communal programs on the development of the community, especially the youth as they will
become our future. By investigating the facilities and programs, we will gain an understanding of how architecture and the interconnection
of various athletics, communal programs, environment, and user experiences become beneficial to society. Furthermore, the analysis of
demographics, history, cultural aspects and local context will also provide insight into community identity. The context, programs, and
experiential qualities analyzed will lay the foundation for the architecture and its functions that strive for the ultimate goal of providing
opportunities to the community.
