Abstract:
This thesis focuses on how experimental animation techniques can be used in traditionally
animated films. The primary focus is on the use of experimental techniques as metaphor
and symbolism within the narrative of a film. The aim of this thesis is to study films in
which experimental techniques are used in traditional films and discuss why the aesthetic
changes work within the context of the narrative. Furthermore, it presents a case for the
further blending of animation techniques for the sake of creatively and intellectually
engaging films.
