Title:
Home on East Huntingdon Street
Creator:
Jones, Myrtle
Description:
View of a house on the 300 block of East Huntingdon Street in Savannah Georgia. The image is from a scan of a slide from Myrtle Jones Collection, MS 002. The slide was used in the publication of her book, A Savannah Experience: an artistic expression of my life in Savannah, published in 1995.
Artist's statement: "East Huntingdon Street was a commissioned painting. Commissions worry me because I'm afraid the person isn't going to like what I do. In this case, I ended up painting three versions of that particular scene. I liked the chimney pots, cupola, red rood, ironwork, and arched windows. The sun coming from the East enhanced the scene. All those things combined to make what I consider a good painting."
