From the text: "In the village of Juchitan, Mexico, gay men … are regarded as neither men nor women; they are know as muxe, and are considered a major element of society. They are a third gender, combining the best parts of both the male and female, equipped with special intellectual and artistic gifts." Colophon: "Production on this book began mid 2006 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and finished early 2007 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, during a period of personal and professional changes for the printer. Text papers throughout are a mixture of cotton and abaca from Caren Heft's Root River Mill, while the covers are Fabriano Uno. Text was hand-set in foundry Tower and printed on Jeff Morin's Vandercook SP15 proof press."
