"Oh, I simply hypnotize them..."
Creator:

Lowell, Orson, 1871-1956
Description:
Two thirds of a page cartoon. Though hypnosis was slowly gaining in popularity as a therapy tool around this time, it was more in use on the stage. Life magazine covers were on a variety of topics. Each issue had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. This issue was titled "Dramatic Number." Orson Bryan Lowell was the son of landscape painter Milton Lowell. His humorous cartoons captured the social climate of the day, and he had a long association with Life Magazine.
