Two page center spread. The title of this cartoon is part of a nursery rhyme that has a number of versions. The most common in the United States is Richman, Poorman, Beggarman, Thief, Doctor Lawyer, Indian Chief. In England, the rhyme starts with Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor. The rhyme and its variations are often referred to in literature and music. Life magazine covers were on a variety of topics. Each issue had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. The cover of this issue was “A Fisher of Men.”
