Abstract:
There is an emerging approach to social design focusing on empathy as a driving force for inspiration, action, and behavior modification. This thesis will discuss the notion of empathy as a necessary design value, arguing that its presence establishes an important dialogue within the new design community, which will hopefully shape the future of our world. This thesis demonstrates the act of caring in a natural way without the expectation of anything in return. It is an approach to a new perspective on social design focusing on empathy as a driving force in the field of graphic design. The user experience of the visual thesis introduces empathy as a value system with its own free will. This thesis discovers the notion of empathy as a necessary design value, and it establishes a dialogue through its action as it extends to the community. After all, design exists in part because it has the ability to create valuable, compelling, and empowering information and experiences, while communicating to the public.
