Abstract:
"This thesis focuses on the possibility of incorporating therapy practices, specifically Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy's Three-Minute Breathing Space, into a video game for students. Anxiety is a major difficulty that students face both academically and in everyday life, but for a variety of reasons they often fail to find treatment. The hope for this research is to identify the possibility of video games assisting in this problem. Using the Three-Minute Breathing Space, this thesis explores the potential for therapeutic practices to become more accessible to a wider range of patients by moving them out of their typical environment and into the hands of those who need them." --Abstract Keywords: anxiety, therapy, students, video games, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, three-minute breathing space
