Abstract:
|
“After watching a comedy show which was very popular in 2022, I started to think about what makes good comedy. What kind of comedy will audiences love? Some people think that comedy should have profound connotations, convey the creator's thoughts, and make the audience smile from the heart once they learn the true meaning of the ending. However, I believe that comedy should be simple and straightforward with the main goal of making audiences laugh. This animation process book will investigate and analyze widely known comedic works from both the East and West, demonstrating that the purpose of creating comedy can be very simple while identifying their common characteristics. Combining these features with the animation knowledge I developed at SCAD, I created a short comedy film called Birdish to explore these ideas.” –Abstract
