Abstract:
|
"This thesis will approach the design of a themed entertainment project through the lens of conscientious development. I believe that, if thoughtfully designed, themed entertainment attractions can uplift their communities and help to address deep-seated sociopolitical issues, such as poverty. This project will showcase the altruistic capabilities of the industry through a project sited in Tampa, Florida. Initial research will go beyond mere feasibility to discover the needs and values of the community in question. This analysis will inform the nature of the creative project in every way, determining not only type of establishment but the color of its walls. In taking a community-first approach, I hope to design an attraction that would be not only a sustainable component of its neighborhood but a part of its very identity." --Abstract
