Abstract:
|
"Unlike reading history books which always involve authors' personal perspectives, visiting history museums not only enables visitors to learn the history, but also encourages them to develop the independent thinking towards history. Museums bring history to life, and exhibits displayed in history museums are based on the past. However, the historical knowledge provided by museums is limited by the presented way of the information. Based on the case of the Hubei Provincial Museum, this study explores a model built with the augmented reality technology, which allows visitors to interact with the cultural relics in the museum. Compared to the traditional one-way input learning method, like reading the descriptions or listening to the interpretation from tour guides, this model makes the process of acquiring historical knowledge more intuitive. Therefore, this thesis aims at showing how augmented reality will help the Hubei Provincial Museum achieve its edutainment goals, such as guiding visitors to understand the ancient Chinese ritual music system and the wisdom of the ancestors." --Abstract
