Abstract:
|
"In this thesis I argue that creating a living and breathing world for players to explore and interact with is a more immersive
experience than 360 VR films. Letting users explore and interact with in order to experience various narrative encounters is what really
sets VR apart from other traditional mediums, so why not use it? While advanced character interactions might be a large ask for some
studios exploration and discovery are powerful immersive devices that should not be overlooked. The problem with this approach, and sometimes in other styles of VR story telling is that you now have a chance that people will
miss integral moments because they are looking the wrong way when something happens or they are standing somewhere that isn’t an
optimal viewing angle for the narrative encounter. This thesis will propose a possible solution to some of these issues. The visual part of this thesis will be structured as an open-ended VR game project that has a simple proof of concept version with
limited user interaction and at least 2 narrative encounters for users to discover."
