Abstract:
"The world has become a global village that is built on the foundations of a digital economy. From E-Currency to Cyber Security, many industries have benefitted from the advent of block chain technology. Still very much in its infancy, block chain has disrupted the way industries plan to tread toward the future. The fashion industry’s supply chain practices are often described as complicated and unaccountable. This paper dissects how blockchain, once successfully integrated with current supply chain management practices, can increase the fashion industry’s accountability, transparency, and tracking as well as dispute management abilities. Beyond reducing transactional interactions, this integration improves the areas of marketing, brand building, relationship-building efforts, regulatory compliance and counterfeiting prevention. The integration also has the potential to empower sustainability and product innovation processes of apparel manufacturers across the planet. The research, while it recognizes the limitations of current data and literature, remains optimistic of the technology’s applications."
