Abstract:
"By studying the current relationships and present scenarios in which architectural design practice performs, it can be determined that there is a lack of measure given to the psychological effect that the built environment has in the evolution of the human brain. The current practice still uses the somewhat rudimentary methods of creating spaces based on the intuitive knowledge and past experiences of the designer. With the advancement of science, it is now possible to understand the effects of the built space through studies of cognitive science, a branch of neuroscience that deals with the development of human behavior. The presented materials document a design inquiry suggesting how people in better designed built spaces or environments have been able to perform to a greater potential than usual. By using these analogies in various sectors of architectural context, I wish to propose a virtual environment, which not only proves the above-mentioned statement but also becomes a stepping stone for designing future architectural and built environments."
